Following on from Quickness Exercise. For those that have tried Wing Chun, a variation is to have your partner throw punch then you bong sau ‘wing arm’ and lap sau ‘pulling arm’ in succession, and simultaneously strike with a fak sau to the throat.
You have probably done something like that before, but here is the difference: Your partner is not going to do Wing Chun, all they want to do is hit you, so instead of blocking the strike they take it (again don’t kill your partner with the fak sau).
From the fak sau you rapidly come back and deal with the next incoming strike with a reverse pak sau or whatever technique you think works best for the situation. See if you can strike them a second time and come back rapidly.
By habit or stubbornness they may bock your initial strike. Never fear, this is good practice for you. I bet you if you persevere you will get through (hint try changing the fak sau to punch or a biu sau ‘thrusting hand’.
Added advantage of having got through is you don’t have wait around for them to strike you back before you deal the next biggest threat. That is the exactly the sort of fan sau/returning skill that is encouraged.
